  | The purpose of this web site is to give the public an update on projects recently completed or nearing completion. All the projects in the photos on the left are located in San Francisco California.My involvement with the large multiunit apartment complex (at the top left of the page) was at the initial research and planning stages. The site was previously a gas station. The project required optimization of the number and type of dwelling within the allowable bulk along with the required parking. The project is located at the corner of Divisadero and Ellis St.The second project was a vertical addition to an existing single family house. This project required pulling together the pieces of a project that had already started but was being altered during construction as though it were a full scale model. The mechanics of the design in conjunction with codes and multiple revisions to permits presented many challenges. The project site is 712 DeHaro St. in Potrero Hill.Finally the restaurant "Namu Gaji" at the corner of Dolores St. and 18th St. across from Dolores Park. The restaurant is owned and run Dennis Lee and his brothers Dave and Dan. It’s the second restaurant that we have designed and built together. The kitchens of both restaurants were based around circulation and a comprehensive variety of cooking equipment. The kitchen had to facilitate a wide range of food preparation techniques as well as efficiency of production.All three projects were products of their time. The Architecture evolved in response to the economic down turn in 2008 and the projections as to where their individual markets would be in 2013.Ashton Richards |
